Synopsis

This textbook has been written for I year Pharm.D students. Many students do not have a good background in Pharmaceutical Organic chemistry.

This textbook is written as per the syllabus prescribed by Pharmacy Council India. The content of this book is a simple language, self-explanatory, and easy for the readers to grasp the subject.

The book consists of 15 chapters, further, each chapter starts with the introduction followed by a subtopic specified in the syllabus such as structure and physical properties of organic compounds; IUPAC/common system of nomenclature of organic compounds, substitution reaction, addition reaction, elimination reaction, oxidation and reduction with mechanism, orientation and reactivity of reaction, the order of reactivity, the stability of organic compounds, some named organic reactions and their mechanism, and method of preparation, test for purity, assay, medicinal uses of some important official compounds listed in Indian Pharmacopoeia have been dealt with in the comprehensive but precise text. A detailed index at the end of the book will be of great help to the readers.
