Even the capable and high IQ candidates are not bothering much about in knowing the significance of deep and extensive learning about a theme. All the professional students are fond of having only a shallow reading and exam preparation, not worrying about being thorough in any of the concepts and are getting much more satisfied with dilute knowledge.
Because of the above reasons, the textbooks created by many legendary authors are not referred by these negligent students, nowadays. And also, during answer sheets evaluation, it becomes a practice for the exam paper evaluators do always face a “like-answer” presentation in most of the answer scripts. In-spite of many motivations by teachers, and colleges; many numbers of revision tests; important key answer practices; whatsApp notes and the like reasons, today’s students are not interested either in hard work or in acquiring knowledge.
For years together, it was observed that the current students’ mentality in learning any concept of the subjects is like “if and only if, the provided manuscript is short, crispy, and explanatory with diagram or charts and at the same time as lucid, clearer and understandable”. Without any much task or difficulty, even the slow learners are also gradually, consistently and hopefully trained to learn the topic and to score better; equally, fast learners are also of thought that they have done a complete study for exams.
For all the above reasons, we authors plan to create text content for the topics listed in II semester, B.Pharmacy syllabus as per PCI regulations for the subject Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry-I, focusing only on those topics which are of significance an exam point of view. The text has been prepared in various headings viz., classification and nomenclature of simple organic compounds, structural isomerism, intermediates forming in reactions, important physical properties, reactions and methods of preparation of these compounds. The syllabus also emphasizes mechanisms and orientation of reactions.
Dr. D. Saravanan, Dr. S. Deivam, Dr. M. Karpakavalli Copyright (c) 2023 Dr. D. Saravanan, Dr. S. Deivam, Dr. M. This textbook is written as per syllabus prescribed by Pharmacy Council India. Many students do not have a good background in Pharmaceutical Analysis- I. We have tried to make simpler and easily understandable to our students for whom this book has been written. The book consists of 5 chapters, further each chapter starts with the introduction followed by a subtopic specified in the syllabus such as introduction to pharmaceutical analysis, errors, pharmacopoeia, limit tests, acid base titrations, non-aqueous titrations, precipitation, complexometric, gravimetry and diazodisation titrations, redox titrations, electrochemical methods of analysis – condctometry, potentiometry and polarography.

The book allows for the lucid understanding of different types of titrations. The subject matter will be interest to the students and together of pharmacy and general science courses. We hope the reader to find the book more informative and rewarding. The constrictive suggestions to readers for further improving the presentation of subject matter of the book. A detailed index at the end of the book will be of great help to the readers.
Dr. I.
